Gorgeous antique turquoise blue and gilt handled vase made by Royal Crown Derby for the fine jewelry/ department store, JE Caldwell & Co. There are also some incised and handwritten letters and numbers on the base. The piece is entirely hand painted, with raised gold enamel flowers on a glossy bright blue ground. My camera does not do justice to the blue color. The neck and handles also have painted gilt details. The vase measures about 7″ tall, 2 1/4″ in diameter across the opening, and 3″ in diameter across the foot, with a bulbous center extending about 6″ at its widest point. It’s in outstanding condition with no chips or cracks and no wear to the floral painting. Its only slight flaw is some light rubbing of the gold rim and a few tiny white dots near one of the side seams which look like chips in the blue (last photo). They are very hard to see. This is a stunning antique vase!
