This exquisite 8 3/4″ fine bone china plate features the prestigious Royal Crown Derby “Kings pattern (#383), a premier example of Victorian-era Chinoiserie design. Decorated in a traditional Imari palette, the piece showcases hand-painted cobalt blue and iron red florals accented with heavy, hand-applied 22k gold gilding. The reverse features a rare cobalt blue underglaze backstamp with the definitive 1883 year cypher (a horizontal bar with perpendicular ends) and an impressed “DERBY” factory mark. Notably, the glaze displays a unique, natural crystalline “snowflake” effect -a technical hallmark of 19th-century kiln firing conditions. In very nice condition. No chips, cracks, or crazing.
