For you to consider is an antique fine English porcelain covered urn by the storied and prestigious Royal Crown Derby. A gorgeous piece dating to the late 19th century, the urn boasts a bright canary yellow ground, a highly desirable color that was to difficult achieve with consistency, and is lavished with festoons of floral swags and garland in hand applied decorative gilding. Delicate foliate gilt handles are found on either side. Standing approximately 10.5″ in height, the urn measures 6″ from handle to handle, stands on a 2.5″ diameter base, and has a 1.5″ diameter opening. The Royal Crown Derby hallmark is seen at the base and inside edge of the lid. An old repair is found to a section at the opening lip of the urn where broken pieces have been reattached. There are also a couple of hairlines that have formed on the lid. While the repair likely occurred some time ago as it has darkened with age, it is not immediately obvious or distracting with the lid in place, appears to be stable, and should not present future problems or concerns. Otherwise the urn is in good antique condition, the gilding remains fully intact, the coloring is vibrant and true, and it presents itself very well. Wear is consistent with age so please regard the photos as they form a descriptive part of the listing. We welcome your questions and are delighted to answer! Thank you for looking!
