This porcelain tea cup and saucer was produced in England by Royal Crown Derby in 1904. The date cipher indicates this year. It was produced especially for Phillip’s of Mount Street, London. The saucer has a diameter of 5 1/8 inches and is 1 inch deep. The cup is 2 inches tall with a diameter of 3 1/8 inches. The bone china is highly translucent and has high relief molded designs. Wreathes of tiny pink roses and garlands of leaves and berries are painstakingly hand painted on both pieces. Cobalt blue borders are finely hand gilded in a delicate manner. The raised design in the well and bottom of the cup is meticulously accented with gold. The Victoria & Albert Museum in England has an original 18th century rendition of this cup and saucer on exhibit. This 1904 version has the exact shape and very similar decorations.
