This is a lovely quality Royal Crown Derby porcelain tabletop standing display plaque that Ive seen identified as a menu stand, although it seems a little too fine for that purpose. It portrays Pembroke Castle, located in Western Wales, and was hand painted and signed by artist William Edward James Dean (WEJ Dean), who produced many works for Royal Crown Derby. The piece has a three flower shaped support at the back. The underside is marked with the Royal Crown Derby backstamp with the date code of I, which stands for 1938. It measures 4 3/8 high by 5 3/4 wide and weighs 5.5 oz. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or wear – this has been very well preserved over the last 79 years.
