This is a large and exceptionally beautiful set of Royal Crown Derby, IMARI , AVES, made in England for William H. Plummer , Fifth Ave, NY, in 1944-45. See marks in the pics some have impressed marks , too, with Roman numerals, VIII & VII E25, some have a small hand painted green mark , looks like a smiley face. Some have handwritten numbers too. (I can’t post all marks and individual pieces because there are too many, but the set is in excellent condition overall with few exceptions). There is almost no wear at all, no chips I see , the bottoms are clean, only one teacup has a vertical hairline crack inside, and one plate stand is missing (easily can be replaced). I know the pattern is “Olde Avesbury” but this set is done in the Imari colors (not the same as all of the other “Aves” I see elsewhere)and these have lots of gold and tastefully done. I would say the gold is real! These are not meant for the dishwasher! No harsh chemicals, either, please! I never used them, only as decor, and they are gorgeous. You will not be disappointed. I would say these are a very special set also because they were made just before the end of the war. My guess is these were special ordered from Plummer’s on Fifth Ave(The address is on each one). I have seen a few pieces of these colors, and with the gold, here and there. You can mix and match them with the other Imari, I think they would look fine. What is included is as follows. There are in this set. 6 -Teacups-3 1/2w. X 2 1/2 h. X 5 3/4w. 6- 8 1/8″ plates-one is slightly smaller 8″ to 8 1/16. 1 -Teapot with lid-spout handle, top all perfect. 1 – sugar with top. (altogether 21 pieces plus 2 tops). 6 -cup and saucer wooden stands all handmade , mahogany. 5 -plate wooden stands (one missing, all hand made, also mahogany). I try to give as complete a description as possible but with limited pictures and space it’s hard to give you the whole story. Most auctions do not include stands, this one does. On the plate stands each has “Feet” , some of the backs are a little shorter than others, but they work just as well. So this set is 99% perfect. It’s rare to find such a complete set in such good condition. Now for the details. These are not replaceable. I check my auctions fairly regularly.
