Rare c 1800 Royal Crown Derby Imari Dessert Set Teapot, Coffee Can Cups, Saucers, Plates, Creamer & Sugar Bowl. Crafted of fine quality English white bone porcelain. Features the hand painted Imari (Witches) pattern with. Very deep hand-painted cobalt blue details and bright gold accents. Arranged around orange flowers. This is an early version, (Old Imari) as can be seen by the unique style of the handle and the collar. Cups fashioned in the Derby Coffee Can style painted on the inner cup also. This is not the traditional newer pattern, take note that the older pattern listed here retains the green palette somehow lost on the newer pattern, commonly used in the 1800’s on English porcelain resulting in much more colorful pattern. 6 Coffee Can Cups-2.5 d x 2.5 t- decorated inside. 6 Saucers-5.75 d 9 Plates-7.25 d. 2 Plates-9 1/8 d 1 cup w/ small tight hairline under glaze inside, one with two small stains, 1 saucer with 2 tight hairlines outer portion of rim. 1 Teapot with lid- 10 handle to spout, 5.5 tallest- very good aside from the small tip of the spout which appears to have been filed to look and feel appropriate to the original. 1 Sugar bowl is a large size measuring approx. 5.75 bowl diameter, 6.75. Handle to handle x 4.25 tall, has staining on the bottom and potters crease on the inside. 1 Creamer-5.75 handle to spout x 4 3/8 tallest, excellent, has a small painters dab of blue paint. 1 Fruit Bowl/ Cache pot-6.25 d x 2. 7/8 t- was broke and has been repaired. The marks with the crown in the center date from 1825 to 1848. The colors are very brilliant and condition is very good, some pieces have light characteristic under glaze crazing, minimum gold wear, of which none distract from the beauty of this set while displayed. This entire set came from an estate collection and had been family for centuries. Pieces of this circa are becoming more scarce, naturally because of their age but as collectors are finding more interest in such rare porcelain articles today as opposed to store bought decors.
