Antique 1882 ROYAL CROWN DERBY “Kings” 10 TAZZA Pedestal Dish IMARI COLORS. This gorgeous tazza or dessert dish in the “Kings” pattern, was manufactured by Royal Crown Derby of England. It has the rarely seen underglaze black backstamp that was used from 1877 – 1890. More specifically, it has the date cipher below the logo that dates it to 1882. The plate measures 10″ in diameter, and it stands 6-1/4″ high. The base measures 4-1/4 in diameter. The dish is decorated in traditional Imari colors of dark blue, iron red and gold enamel. The most unusual feature of this dish is that the underside of the plate is decorated as well. How often do you see that? There are no chips or cracks. There is very fine crazing seen under magnification. Colors and gold enamel are in very good condition with almost no sign of wear. There is a small amount of glue oozing out from under the plate where it attaches to the pedestal; there is no way of knowing if this is from the manufacturing.
