1887 Royal Crown Derby gadrooned dessert plate, Imari pattern #2224. Dimensions 22.5 cm diameter and 2.5 cm deep. Gloriously presented in the hand painted Imari colourways of cobalt blue and rust with lavish gilded highlights on a crisp white background. Wonderfully tactile weight and fluted edge. The base bears the Royal Crown Derby back stamp; impressed Derby and date cypher for 1887; and a hand painted pattern number. In excellent original antique condition with no chips, cracks, repairs, restoration or other damage that I can identify. The colours remain vibrant and clear, the gilding is unrubbed. Very handsome, displays beautifully and typical of this fabulous producer which alas is no longer in production.
