Superb set 12 1889 Antique Royal Crown Derby Gilt Cream White Floral 9 Plates. Presented is a superb set of 12 Royal Crown Derby plates, dating to 1889 and retailed by Davis Collamore & Co, New York. These plates are done in a cream white and light yellow color scheme, with incredible quality gilt decoration around the rims. The gilding is done in the form of flowering garlands and little floral vignettes inside raised, beaded frames, with latticework panels to either side. All the gilding is quite intricately done by hand, and the contrast of gold finishes and textures has a great visual effect. The gold of the floral vignettes is done against bright white porcelain so those in particularly really pop, in contrast with the softer cream white and light yellow of the rest of the porcelain. Each dish is signed with the Royal Crown Derby mark in red with an infinity symbol date mark for the year 1889 beneath, as well as a retail stamp for Davis Collamore & Co, a fine New York retailer. This set of plates is in excellent overall condition. There are some very minor knife marks to the center portions of many of the plates, but nothing excessive.
