Please note: I have an extensive collection for sale. If you are looking for something specific, please let me know as I may have it. If you are interested in multiple auctions, please feel free to contact me with an offer for the pieces that you would like. This piece is marked with the not often seen puce (pink) colored stamp. There are not usually date cyphers on puce pieces, but the use of “Made in England” rather than only “England” suggests it was made after 1921. According to RCD the puce color was. Used on early pieces made before 1935. The stamp completely changed in 1964, so there is no doubt this set pre-dates 1964. It measures approximately 4″ tall to the top of the bowl or 6″ tall to finial on lid. It is approximately 9″ across handle to handle and the opening is about 5-3/8″. This piece is in truly excellent condition with no chips, cracks or crazing. The intricate gold is in excellent condition with some very light surface marks visible when looked at an angle or inspected closely. There is a dot sized scuff on the very tip of each handle, as shown in the close-ups. I would say any wear is extremely minor and I tend to be very critical. Please use the “enlarge” option on the photos to see the condition in greater detail and judge for yourself. The painting itself was extremely well done (artist mark is “D”), with bolder colors. Being that each piece of Imari is handpainted, there may be slight variations in the shades of blue and peach and the gold placement varies from piece to piece. Some of the artists left wider white stripes between the blue panels, some left thinner stripes of white. These are all differences that give the pieces the uniqueness of hand painted works of art and do not detract from the beauty. As with any near century old china, you will find the occasional wrinkle, dimple, tiny dot of blue paint, glaze skip or firing spots in the porcelain, so commonly found in antique English porcelain. There are tiny blue dots of paint under the glaze of some pieces. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A LARGER SERVICE, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO CONTACT ME AS THIS IS ONLY A SMALL PART OF THE COLLECTION.
