A Royal Crown Derby Oval Covered Vegetable Dish in”Old Imari Pattern” 1128, c. This is an elegant oval serving dish, in the highly desirable, pattern # 1128 – “Old Imari, ” by Royal Crown Derby. The pattern is rendered in shades of cobalt, cadmium red, peach, and green, with ornate gilt scrollwork and embellishments. The gold and white handles on either side make the dish easy to transport. It is finished on the bottom with an inset, oval, banded foot. The world-renowned Royal Crown Derby factory was founded in 1750, by Andrew Planche and William Duesbury. Queen Victoria gave them a Royal Warrant in 1890. This serving dish was manufactured in the Osmaston Road factory. Royal Crown Derby continues in production to this day. This handsome serving dish would make a useful addition to a set of Old Imari dinnerware, or a terrific display piece in a collection of English Imari. Marked: On the interior lid, and on the base of the dish, with the red transfer factory mark in use between 1891 and 1940, with a year cipher for 1923. The lid has an impressed mark, “Derby 1920″ and two decorators’ marks, applied by hand, one in green, and one in red (pictured). Measures: Dimensions: 11″ L x 7″ W x 5 H with lid on.
