Made of heavy weight white china, they are decorated with feathers, swirls and roses in shades of pink, burgundy, royal blue and accented with lots of heavy gold gilt work. A similar salt, missing its underplate, can be seen in Open Salts Illustrated, The Tenth Book, (Plate #441-4-1) by Allan B. The salt measures 1-1/4 high, 2-3/8 in diameter at the flared rim, 1-1/8 in diameter at the base and is in good condition one small chip on the underside of the rim. One handle of the underplate looks like it was professionally repaired at one point, but it is hard to spot until you turn it over and look at the bottom. It measures 3/4 high by 3-1/2 in diameter. The set is in remarkable shape given it is 200+ years old! I describe all items to the best of my ability, but please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, comments, or requests for additional pictures as they are always welcome. I want you to be happy and I will always resolve any issues to your satisfaction.
