Stunning and rare antique Crown Derby (pre royal warrant) comport/cake stand with a central hand painted goldfinch among flowers and foliage. The image is framed by a wide pink border with a repeating floral design with raised gold dot detailing. The underside of the plate is similarly decorated and sits upon a three footed classical base. This piece was made between 1877 – 1890 and has the backstamp to the bottom, the pattern number 209, along with an impressed year mark for 1888 (I think – its hard to make out). Remarkable condition, no chips, cracks, crazing or restoration and gilding still excellent.
