A rare set of Royal Crown Derby “Norfolk” No. A1217 dinnerware serves 8 people. The Royal Crown Derby “Norfolk” pattern was first released in 1895. Featuring small red poinsettia flowers arranged in a scattered design around the plate’s border. The pattern includes larger red poinsettia flower clusters spaced evenly around the rim, smaller red poinsettia blooms scattered between the larger flowers, gold scroll or flourish accents at intervals around the border and gold trim on the scalloped edge of the plate. This pattern is characteristic of formal holiday or Christmas dinnerware. It’s a classic and elegant design that combines the festive red poinsettias with refined gold accents on a white porcelain background. Beautiful gadrooned edge porcelain luncheon plate. Nicely decorated with raised gold gilt vines and Leaves and flowers all over an Turquoise background. Raised gold gilt floral scrollwork. Border over a turquoise or blue aqua color. Marked on the reverse with a red crown mark used by Royal Crown Derby between 1878 and 1890. Has a date code for either 1886 or 1887. Pattern number 2261 (marked on 1 plate). Gold is pretty rich but there is some wear to the gilding 1 small peel off spot-not a chip-, but otherwise good condition with no chips or cracks. Great for about 150 year old! Measures approximately 8 7/8 inches wide.
