Pair of Antique 1921 Royal Crown Derby Imari Plates / Biscuit Cookie Trays Excellent Condition. Size of Plate/Tray 8.7/8″and 9.5″ to handle and 1 height. The production of Derby porcelain dates from the second half of the 18th century, although the authorship and the exact start of the production remains today as a matter of conjecture. The oldest remaining pieces in the late 19th century bore only the words «Darby» and «Darbishire» and the years 1751-2-3 as proof of place and year of manufacture. More important is the fact that the production of porcelain in Derby predates the commencement of the works of William Duesbury, started in 1756 when he joined Andrew Planche and John Heath to create the Nottingham Road factory, which later became the Royal Crown Derby. The company, particularly known for its high-quality bone china, having produced tableware and ornamental items since approximately 1750. It was known as’Derby Porcelain’ until 1773, when it became’Crown Derby’, the’Royal’ being added in 1890. The factory closed down in the past under Royal Doulton ownership, but production was revived under the renewed ownership of Hugh Gibson and Pearson family.

Offered for sale is this antique circa 1770 Derby biscuit porcelain figurine of Summer (or a gardener). It’s nicely detailed. Please excuse the reflections in the pictures. The figure is approximately 5.5 inches tall. It is in overall good condition considering its age. There are some losses to the applied wheat and her head has been restuck (but it’s not obvious). This is a beautiful Crown Derby biscuit or cracker jar. It has a porcelain lid and is decorated with bright red, blue and gold designs in the Imari pattern. The handle is bent wood with (Ibelieve) leather lacing. It is marked on the bottom – England, Octagon. The jar is 6″ tall to the lid finial and 6 1/2″ wide. Great condition – please note there is some wear to the gold decorations and the gold on the lid finial. There is one small flake on the inside rim. Do not discard boxes or packing material as this is required for presentation to the carrier. Payments must be made by Pay Pal. We do not accept bank transfers or personal international checks.
