This pattern is almost never seen on the collectors market. This interesting note can be seen in the pattern catalogue along the pattern number of 8288 (as seen in the gallery of pictures, for reference). The plate offered for sale is marked with the very same number. Size: 26 cm of diameter (dinner plate). Made of fine bone English china and decorated with golden rim and a 3-D border, together with green floral motifes, applied by hand. It is in perfect condition, almost never used, of museum quality. Identical pieces have been recovered from the wreck site of Titanic. These ones were additionally marked with ONSC monogram, which this particular item is naturally missing, as well as White Star Line markings. It is stamped with Royal Crown Derby early XXth logo, together with brand of American china dealer from New York. Most probably, a very short series of these plates went to commercial market before selecting the pattern for White Star Line. Due to my personal knowledge, there was only one such plate. From the White Star Line service. In the dinner size recovered from Titanic debris field in 1994. It was displayed on the famous “Titanic – the Artifact Exhibition” during its European edition, ended in 2019. Some other, very few pieces of this pattern (but of different shapes) remain in museums and private collections. In 2012, this pattern was reproduced for the first time by the same, still existing company, of Royal Crown Derby. Unfortunately, pieces coming from the repro series do not match originals in regard to shapes, proper number of decorations and method of application of the ornaments. Certailny, they are also marked differently. The condition and rarity of this plate is reflected by the price. Condition as seen on the pictures. The glaze is absolutely perfect and shiny, with almost no signs of use. All the green swags and golden motifes are not missing any details, bright and sharp. There is one small imperfection on the golden rim, shown on one of the pictures. I hope that it will find new home, where it will be appreciated as much as it was by me.
