1880s Royal Crown Derby KINGS Imari OCTAGONAL Plates. NINE English made Derby dessert or cabinet plates in the collectible Imari KINGS pattern in the uber rare OCTAGONAL shape’bamboo’ trim detail. Cobalt blue and iron red decor with gilt accents and trim. The rim is very unusual, very much in the aesthetic movement taste with Asian bamboo like detail. SIZE: About 8 1/2 in diameter. MARKS: As shown in photo examples. Derby Crown Period mark in use c. There are some additional impressed marks beneath the Derby impression. Looks like horizontal line (could be for 1880) and a box shape (a box could be a mark for 1912, but by 1912 the red period mark would have had the words Royal Crown Derby above the crown). 1880s based on the style of the Period mark and the aesthetic period style of the bamboo rim. If exact dating matters to you, please do your own research. There are at least 2 small flaws on the back of plate #6 (see photos below). Two plates have crazing (example below).
