This is a very rare tea cup & saucer by Royal Crown Derby, England. The marks on each piece date from the late Georgian period, 1806 through 1825. The decoration on each piece is very unusual for the time, as it is Neoclassical rather than oriental in design. Each piece is made of natural white ceramic with highly decorative gilded detailing at the edges, handle, and interior of the cup. Each piece is decorated with a motif of Greek keys, urns, grapes, and stylized plants in deep orange, blue, purple, black, yellow and gold. Each piece is in very good condition for the age and use of the piece. There is some crazing & discoloration to the base of the saucer and inner rim of the cup, and VERY light wear to the decoration in some spots.
